I heard of all sorts of ways to potty train- let the kid go naked, used just underpants, etc, but all of those ideas just made me think "BIG mess!" My parents used "plastic pants" to potty train my siblings and I, so I decided to look them up. While these aren't completely mess-proof, they will contain a small accident, when used with underwear (I also got the Gerber underwear that is thicker), and even kept larger accidents in (as long as my daughter didn't sit down right after). There were two times that I can think of that we had pee just go down her leg, and then a couple of times we picked her up, and then felt wet on our arms. Other than those few times, I've been able to peek inside the plastic pants, and see if her underwear was dry/if there was a little puddle of pee inside of the pants. It's been SO much easier than what I've seen others do, and allowed me to continue training her at other people's house with very little worry that she would make a mess. I wouldn't recommend... I got these for my daughter who is almost 2 1/2. I couldn't find them in local stores. The plastic underwear holds in the wetness when she has an accident. There is some slight leaking on her pants, but most of the pee is kept in the plastic part so there isn't a huge mess. My daughter is 29 pounds and these will fit her for a while. Good price and they were shipped very quickly to me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great training pants, February 27, 2008
This review is from: Bummis Cloth Training Pants Medium (30-40 lbs) (Health and Beauty)
My daughter was having some problems potty training and didn't like the plastic training pants(you can't blame her!). These feel like real underwear and made her feel like a big girl. They wash well(I recommend delicate cycle to reduce lint balls that can form on the inner lining) and can save a pair of pants from any accidents!

3.0 out of 5 stars great for potty training, February 7, 2010

This is a great training pant if you have used cloth diapers and are hesitant to go strait to underwear on your child for the potty training process. However, this is not a great overnight training pant (at least not for my little boy). My son frequently wakes up in the morning soaked through - underwear, pj's, and bedding.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good basic training pant, September 18, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
I've only used mine a handful of times, but so far, so good. Fit is true to description (although leg openings are a *little* small. Shouldn't be an issue unless your LO has REALLY chunky thighs. The snug openings do help to contain accidents though. My LO can flood a diaper, but this held one void without leaking, and it even contained a very mushy poop. We are still very early in learning to use the potty, but my LO did notice a difference when he went in this as opposed to going in his cloth diapers or disposables. He actually told me he went instead of simply going about his business. I probably won't venture to use these outside the house until he's a little further along in the process though.
